We don’t see a lot of Jounouchi fighting in the DM anime, partially because most of the series takes place after Jounouchi’s fights have any sort of narrative focus, but also because DM seems to have a particular perception of Jounouchi’s character—one that doesn’t involve especially impressive martial prowess.
The way Jounouchi gets when he fights is actually one of the most interesting parts of his characterization for me, though. Jounouchi is usually a very emotive, sweet, outgoing character, but when he gets into “fight mode” it’s like you can HEAR the “click” as he inwardly locks the door on things like compassion or pity.
To put it simply, Jounouchi is fucking scary when he gets like this.

there are almost no “canonically straight” characters because writers don’t feel the need to explicitly state heterosexuality everyone always forgets...
